The French Ambassador to India, Emmanuel Lenain, told reporters that the tests of the French Rafale-M fighter aircraft from the Indian aircraft carrier INS “Vikrant” were a complete success.
The tests took place in January and lasted 12 days (INS “Vikrant” is expected to enter service next August).
The tests were conducted as part of the Indian Navy‘s interest in procuring 26 new fighter aircraft for use by the carrier. The new aircraft will replace an equal number of MiG-29Ks. Apart from France and the Rafale-M, the programme is also claimed by the USA with the F/A-18 Super Hornet.
