Congress plans to disapprove the US Army‘s request for two additional Iron Dome anti-aircraft missile systems.
The US Army has already procured two systems as an interim solution until a US system is developed. According to the draft defence budget for 2022, the costs for the procurement of the two additional Iron Dome systems will be allocated to the IFPC (Indirect Fires Protection Capability) programme.
The IFPC project involves the development of a system similar to the Iron Dome. The programme has been won by Dynetics with its Enduring Shield system. One of the two available Iron Domes has been deployed on Guam (Operation Iron Island).
