The United States of America is sending a destroyer and fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates following the recent attacks by the Yemeni Houthis.

The type of destroyer is not specified but it will probably be an Arleigh Burke.

The deployment of these forces willhelp the United Arab Emirates against the current threat, the US side said in a statement.

The move comes after a phone call between US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, according to the embassy.

Already from today, US F-16 Block 30s will be conducting night patrols over the UAE.

Just yesterday, the Houthis informed that they had launched a ballistic missile attack on a UAE operational headquarters in Yemen.

It is recalled that in mid-January there was a drone attack on fuel transport tanks in Abu Dhabi, which resulted in the death of three people.
